GTBank Autism week 2017 A perspective on transition from Childhood to Adulthood: Communication and Social development.

     The annual 7th edition of Guaranty Trust bank Orange Ribbon Initiative, autism conference was held at Muson center, Onikan, Lagos. The theme of this year event is ''Childhood to Adulthood: Communication and Social development". In attendance were parents, caregivers, representatives of government and the public.
     The Orange Ribbon Initiative is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Guaranty Trust bank dedicated to support children, especially those with developmental and psychological challenges with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

     Chief Executive Officer and Managing director of Guaranty trust bank, Mr. Segun Agbaje in his keynote address stated that Autism is a lifelong condition with several layers of challenges and yet there is still a lot to be done with much concerted effort to support children and Adults living with autism, their families, caregivers and the experts who are working on innovative solutions for people with developmental disabilities and special needs.
Agbaje also added that Acceptance remains the key that bridges the divide between the child living with autism and the society.
     Dr. Yewande Oshodi, a Consultant of Child and Adolescent psychiatrist and Senior Lecturer in the department of Psychiatry of the Lagos state University teaching Hospital gave her opening plenary presentation on the theme; Beyond a Diagnosis of Autism, with highlights on the role of the community, parents, families and caregivers in the social process of accepting the diagnosis of an affected child and the lack of proper services and proven methods to challenge stigmas associated with ASD and related disabilities.

     The government was not left out as it representative, Mrs Joyce Onafowokan, special adviser to his Excellency, Governor of Lagos state on Social development, spoke on the Benefits of early intervention and early diagnosis services giving to a child affected with autism.
     Nse Aruede, a parent expressed her gratitude towards this initiative birthed by Guaranty trust bank, said the Conference, Workshop and special session has really been impactful and informative to her on managing and playing the role of a caregiver for her son who has Autism Spectrum disorder. She also urged the government and corporate organisations to give more attentions to the plights of the child living with autism by building more specialized schools and health care centres with funding as well, as they pay so much to send them to specialised private schools.

     Recall, Guaranty Trust bank Orange Ribbon initiative over the past six years have amplified a national awareness on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and increased the expert assistance available to people living with autism. More than 10,000 people have participated in their annual Autism conference offering free consultation services to over 3000 children.

#HallelujahChallenge:Nathaniel Bassey praise and worship movement gains wide reactions.
Nigerian gospel singer, worship leader and a minister of the gospel, Nathaniel Bassey embarks on a praise and worship challenge that has attracted over 68,000 participants and still counting.
The 30 day event sees thousands of his followers join in a live Instagram stream, every day at midnight, thousands of worshipers around the world logged on to Instagram to lift their voices in praise and prayer, united by one hashtag: #HalleluyahChallenge.
The Convener, Bassey said the initiative came as a divine instruction, "I had a sense which is the leading of the spirit to praise God the whole of the month of June," as It all started with a simple post on his Instagram page on the 31st of May, where he signaled his intention to start a 30-day midnight praise challenge throughout the month of June, basing it on, Act 16:25-26  ''And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God; and the prisoners heared them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bands were loosed''. 
He added saying "Against the backdrop of the challenges in the world today especially in our nation, with the scourge of terrorism and the recession ... it has brought a sense of hope and respite. It is a reflection of the desire and hunger for answers and for hope," he said.
Bassey frequently shares testimonies of participants who say taking part in the challenge has yielded results and a change in their circumstances.
The #Halleluyahchallenge has also gained the attention of popular Nigerian celebrities like Funke Akindele, Don Jazzy and Toke Makinwa who have also shared the hashtag with their followers.

     June 12 is significant for Nigerians, African continent and the world as a whole, it is the day popular televangelist, philanthropist and founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T.B Joshua was born in Arigidi-Akoko in the present day Ekiti state in Nigeria.

through the miraculous healings of Prophet Joshua, many people all over the world have visited Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Headquarter in Nigeria. 
     His Humanitarian efforts apart from the healing and ministration to the soul have also brought wide accolade. The widows,orphans, elderly and physically challenged people have found succor with Prophet Joshua.
     Housing have been provided for destitute, whole food items are common donations. Communities have benefited as well, just last month he was in a remote part of Indonesia to commission a school built by the church.

The celebration of the former General Overseer of the FourSquare Gospel Church in Nigeria and founder/Chairman of Wilson Badejo foundation at the banquet Hall of Oriental hotel, Lagos recently. In attendance were his old friends, one from his farming business and former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly , Pastor Tunde Bakare, and former information minister Profssor Jerry Gana, were among the high profile guests. who spoke about his exceptional qualities. 
Bakare described the septugenarian as a mentor and man of many parts and also gave the lecture at the occassion on the theme: The cure for extreme poverty and corruption in Nigeria''. 
The lecture and Welcome address by senior Pastor of Foursqure Gospel church, Asokoro, Abuja, Rev. Babajide Olowodola, and remarks by Obasanjo who said he met the celebrant ''in a lowly profession of rearing chickens''
Recalling during his tenure as the General overseer, the Barley harvest project was adopted for the church planting program of the Foursquare gospel church in Nigeria. The project involved megacity church planting and strategic engagement of the unreached: over 1000 churches were planted in four years, by the end of his tenure in 2009, about 2,000 churches were planted. 
In acknowledgement and appreciation of the grace and call of God in his life , Dr Badejo and his wife Adeyinka on May 19th, 2007, established the Wilson Badejo foundation (WBF), a non-profit organisation aimed at providing educational opportunities for indigent citizens in the higher institutions of learning, as well as ensure that no Nigerian citizen sleeps hungry without a meal a day, empowering well meaning Nigerians youth for employment via vocational training and skill acquisition.

Unique Woman Conference 2017 beckons.
   The largest annual gathering of christian women, Unique women conference 2017 is set to hold on June 17 in the City of Ibadan, Oyo state in Nigeria. The convener Rev. (Mrs) Omowunmi Popoola wife of the President, Word communication ministries (WOCOM), Apostle Sunday Popoola, has said while speaking on this year's conference that though times are tough yet is time for women to seize the opportunities available in the challenges presented by the prevailing situation.
    Rev (Mrs) Popoola also stated that this year's programme is set to help women discover their potentials and get wisdom to tap and deploy these potentials for them to shine in the midst of the gross darkness which is covering the world right now. 
     According to her the theme of this year's conference is 'Winning Woman in a Waning world', time is from 8am to 4pm.
     Apart from the main seminars and messages there are also practical workshops, counselling clinics, Well-woman clinics and Girls conference amongst others.
    Special guest at the event includes Mrs Florence Ajimobi, wife of the governor of Oyo state, while conference speakers include Adebola Osibogun, Ayodele Megbope, Liz Adunola, Mojisola Kupolati and Victoria Oluwaseun.

A Global and Unifying Event: The Jesus Dream 2017

      

    The Jesus dream worldwide worship hour 2017 is set to hold on the 30th of June, the annual gathering of believers all around the world for a one hour of worship and prayer is currently in it's 8th year since June 2010.    
    According to the visionary leader, Emmanuel Oje Ehimika a.k.a Preacherman disclosed how it all started ''When I was about to clock 50 years of age in 2010, I asked the Lord “What would you want me to do to mark this milestone?’’God said to me: ‘Call for Christians all over the world to pray for one hour for the unity of My ministers’, (John 17:11). That was the birth of THE JESUS DREAM (TJD) worldwide prayer programme, an event being observed on June 30, annually since 2010. 
     Ehimika recalled his experiences from inception ''Since I had closed down my church and was led to stop my motivational talks as well, I could not raise money for the first TJD adverts. So, I sold all I could sell including our former church building to raise part of the money to advertise the first TJD event in the media. It was a “crazy idea” to sell a church building and use the money for the advert of an event you are not even sure of the outcome. But I did because I was convinced that if Jesus could shed His blood for our unity, I could as well sacrifice all for that.                                                                                                                              My family and I had to move into my office building from our 6-bedroom bungalow and we converted it as both office and house temporarily. It was overly embarrassing and uncomfortable because we had enjoyed some level of comfort in the past but it was a price we had to pay. As God would honour His Word, many Christians around the world participated in the maiden edition. During the 2011 edition, focus was on praying for unity of ministers while in the 2012 edition the leading was on prayer of reconciliation and unity of ministers of the gospel worldwide.                                                                                                  At this time I could not advertise TJD because I had no source of income but we began to receive a couple of freewill adverts in the newspapers. God began to raise people who used their influence to motivate more people to be part of this rising spiritual building of Christians in which God dwells (Eph. 2:21-22). A man in the USA, running a cyber-based ministry was inspired to send TJD message by e-mail to over 5 million people around the world to participate in the TJD 2012 edition.                                                                                                                           The vision continued to grow as the Holy Spirit began to enlarge my understanding, giving me direct insights for the vision. God said to me that TJD would grow like Jesus grew… (Luke 2:52); not grown overnight like Adam, and so I had to be contented with His pace. Then by the Spirit’s leading, I informed Christians to offer to God thanksgiving for reconciling us to Himself during the 2013 TJD hour. The response worldwide was awesome. Then, God began to stir up the hearts of media executives to promote TJD free of charge. The initial sacrifice of selling all that I could to pay for adverts began to yield harvest. In fact, it could be unarguably termed as one of the most publicized Christian events in Nigeria, and it began to spread from Nigeria to other nations of the world. Furthermore, God raised up women who took The Jesus Dream message to Israel, Austria, U.S.A, China, Ghana, U.K, Australia, even to the Fiji Islands in the uttermost ends of the earth. Back at the home front in Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) threw her weight behind the vision when the President called on all Christians in Nigeria to observe TJD. Before the fifth edition of TJD on June 30, 2014, the Holy Spirit instructed me that henceforth we should declare the wonders of God and it became the foundation laying edition on which in subsequent years, we would only declare the wonders of God as it was done on the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts chapter Two.                                                                                                                              Then in May 2015, more media houses in some nations of the world began to promote TJD. Its spread thus began to increase across the world. In 2016, the spread was angelic while TJD had been translated into some other languages. Again more media houses came on board. Now TJD comes to its eighth year on June 30, 2017. God told me not to sell anything in the ministry, but to remain focused on the work and He will raise helpers to support. People whose hearts prompt them like it happened when He told Moses to ask for support. And really God has been faithful to His Word. God used me to birth this vision; as He usually uses one ordinary man or woman to start His great move on earth, but He would subsequently recruit others to spread the move for His own glory. In his final words,                                                      Ehimika said, his desire is that this gathering in the name of Jesus will bring God glory.

  Billy Graham's Ministry makes a difference in Healing Manchester's Pain.

           The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) is reaching out to help Manchester heal from the grief, fear, and uncertainty unleashed by last week's terror attack.

Chaplains from BGEA's Rapid Response team have been in the city since the day of the attack.

        The chaplains are in the city square every day talking with people at the memorial for the victims, working to bring comfort to shaken citizens simply through sharing the love of Christ with one person at a time. 

Chaplains with the Billy Graham Evangelical Association's Rapid Response teams (RRT) take time to talk to and pray for mourners and individuals.

 According to Coordinator Nigel Fawcett-Jones stated that "We encountered people who were in shock and disbelief of what had happened here in Manchester and a lot of our time has been a ministry of presence as we would call it standing alongside those hurt and grieving and finding it hard to comprehend and process the tragedy that has fallen upon this city, 

He added that he's never seen a community respond to a tragedy the way Manchester's people are pulling together.

"The fact that so many children have been impacted and injured and killed by this incident is a constant reminder of the frailty, just the frailty of life that we have and how the dreams and aspirations for our children can just be wiped out in a moment whether it's a terrorist attack, whether it's a road traffic collision, or whether it's an illness. It is one of those constant reminders,"

For years, the Billy Graham Evangelical Association (BGEA) Rapid Response Teams have been on the frontlines of similar situations, whether it's terror attacks, natural disasters, or other tragedies.

"When the Gospel is taken into a crisis situation, people's hearts are changed" said RRT Chaplain Kevin Williams. 

"When the love of Christ is felt the message is heard."

Whether it be in riots, or after tornadoes and hurricanes, the teams insert themselves, responding to suffering and using the message of the Gospel to bring restoration and hope.

The BGEA's website says, "The Rapid Response Team ministry was developed to share Christ in the midst of crisis and disasters."

The teams "share God's hope through the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3).

"Just by listening, hearing people and allowing them to talk, opens the door for prayer, opens the door for the gospel," said Williams.
